Ok, here's the post for COM 125! It's about Microsoft Surface Technology!
If you haven't heard about it, just go google about it..
I feel that the IT industry has become so competitive that companies have to constantly come up with new and innovative softwares and hardwares to stay at the top. Microsoft has also came up with a new technology, Microsoft Surface, which essentially is a computer that uses the tabletop as its display, recognizes objects placed on the surface and thus, making the traditional keyboard and mouse redundant as people can now just use their fingers to control their computers. The technology is amazing to me as I have always wondered when will there ever be a "furniture" that actually incoporates a computer on it.
With our generation now so accustomed to the computers and the internet, if Microsoft Surface turns out to be too expensive, I doubt the product will be a hit in the first place and as time goes by, without a drop in prices, I doubt the product will last. Also, everything seems very attractive and good now, but due to the use of multiple cameras to catch finger movement across the surface, when the cameras start to spoil, the price of repairs would definitely be very high. Since the past, with every new technology comes simple applications for simple usage. With computers being so advanced and engulfed with tons of softwares on the market, unless the Surface can accomodate more softwares, I highly doubt it'll be a hit.
Not everything about MS Surface is bad actually, with the unique technology breaking into the market, it definitely is worth keeping a lookout for MS Surface!!
P.S. All posts are just my point of view.. ciao!!

COM 125 week 3 blog comments!
This week's comments shall be on the ten reasons why some e-commerce sites failed.
Cited from: http://www.smallbusinessbible.org/top10e-commercemistakesavoid.html
The top 10 e-commerce mistakes to avoid that are listed are:
- Weaknesses in the design
Basically, when doing up the site, a good website should be designed to attract consumers and the navigation bars should be well done up.
- Usability Inadequate
The concept of the website should be clear and reflects what it is offering so that consumers know what is being offered.
- Shopping Obstacles
Websites should offer consumers the ease of shopping online and provide verification that credit card details will be strictly kept confidential.
- Lack of marketing plan
The website should know what and who to advertise.
- Poor customer service
Even though e-commerce is kind of behind the screens. Treat consumers as if they were "there" and provide good service!
- Selling of wrong products
Products advertised on the website should be as similar to the actual product itself. If customers receive products that give a negative impression, the e-commerce website could get a negative response from people too.
- Lack of growth plans
Always be ready for expansion of business and don't be stagnant after awhile.
- Lack of fulfilment
All products that customers purchase must be delivered on time. This will help generate good reputation for the company.
- Failure to specialize
By not specializing in a particular product, a company will lose it's competitive edge over others.
- Security failure
Always know how and what to do when there are security glitches surface.
