My keyboard's crapped..

On thursday..

Realized that my keyboard crapped up.. now i've gotta copy and paste letters i and k and the commar symbol.. anyone's got a laptop repair specialist to recommend?

Anyway.. (using double .. instead of commars) partied on wednesday and the past 2 nights.. Drank just a lil bit more then usual w/o being gone.. To clarify my term gone.. TO ME! it means getting high till you can't remember events that happened. Saw some pretty funny or weird incidents and so i decided to blog about it.

incident number 1: The dance floor is a nice place to mingle and dance(at least a lil) and i do understand when couples hit the dance floor for some time together. but being surrounded by people making out with their tongues outta their mouths really made me freak out. Plus.. they just DO NOT care whatsoever happens when they're having their tongue fight.. if pushes and stepping on other's foot weren't enough.. some even have the nerve to lean on your back!! Crap.. Just be nice and step aside off the dance floor if it goes more then dirty dancing man.
P.S. i didn't choose to dance in the middle of those orgies.. they just...... appeared.

incident number 2: Using of cellphones in the club (yes i am guilty of it too). it seems that in Singapore.. people have become so realiant on cellphones that without it.. you get this handicapped feeling. Everyone seems to be texting away once they have the chance.. be it being by the bar.. at the table.. the dance floor.. smoking room.. inside/outside the toilet.. almost everywhere someone will use their cellphones.. Last year in Koh Samui.. clubbers there would just be chatting amongst their friends and the cellphone seemed non-existant. Due to several reasons that i came up with.. Maybe it explains why we use the cellphones in the clubs that often. They are:

i. You need to communicate to feel important.. So when there isn't anyone to speak to.. you just text someone.
ii. You're bored so you just look at your cellphone or play some games.
iii. There was a need to reply to someone.
iv. You need to check the time coz you don't have a watch.

Personally i feel that technology has changed the lifestyle of people so much so that we depend on it like how we depend on our friends. sometimes we need to live away from it and just do the things that we set out to do.. for example just have fun at the club. and if you decide to make out.. just turn off that cellphone!

Sigh at the keyboard.

Need a new life. Think Secondlife.

Ok so now I've got to blog about Secondlife. A virtual world that is created and run by it's Residents (the term used instead of users) for people to "live" in and be what they want to be. In the game, Residents experience real life content, such as: trading and business, reacreational activities, education, etc. Besides these, problematic issues such as pornography and gambling has also arose in the virtual world. Through wiki, I've come to realize that secondlife is a very powerful medium from the fact that even prestigious Universities, such as Harvard and Stanford, use this platform for distance learnings. Besides education, diplomacy has also surfaced in Secondlife with countries setting up embassies for various reasons stated in wiki. Oh well, just read up more on wikipedia to get an insight on what is Secondlife.

Personally, I think Secondlife provides many opportunities for people to interact and meet new people and/or live how they want their lives to be. However I feel that this virtual world has the ability to take over a person's life. I would not like to think that Secondlife is a game but somehow it seems to be one. By being in the virtual world too much, people tend to lose touch with the real world. By being successful in the virtual world, I believe it would be really hard for him/her to leave the virtual world. Unless a really huge blow or crisis hits the person, they will just be stuck in the virtual world!!

I guess it's up to the individual to find out what they want in life.. This is just my opinion. :)

What is blogging?

I still don't understand why I have to blog as part of class assignment.. Isn't blogging supposed to be a past time and/or something that someone likes to do ?

Experience the changes of technology and social media? hmmm......

Social Media and the internet

Social media, found in the notes, is understood to be a group of new kinds of online meida which shares the following characteristics:

- Participation
- Openness
- Conversation
- Community
- Connectedness

To me, social media is best understood as the "globalization" of the internet, where all sorts of online media has been integrated to serve the purpose of unifying the online community. Through social media, information, news, personal comments or even rumors can be shared and spread by the click of a single button. Also, social media can be a very strong medium for influencing and persuading the audience or anyone viewing the particular media.

The internet is really an amazing invention in my opinion as it has really changed the lives of people compared to how we have lived in the past. Messages can be transferred instantly even though people may be situated 12hrs apart from each other and people may feel closer to their loved ones even though they are far away from each other. However, there are many problems with the internet and social media, such as piracy and illegal downloads.

To end, I guess I would like to say that internet in the future would be an ever expanding "world" for people to explore in and that everyone would be reliant on the internet for everything! :)

P.S. i'm going through the motion.. :p
